Indonesia Joins the OMODA X Co-Creation Project, Showcasing a New Crossover with Mecha Design and AI Technology

Unveiled at OMODA X Night as part of the International User Summit, the new model marks the evolution of mecha design and intelligent technology shaping OMODA’s next generation of products.

Jakarta, 22 October 2026 — OMODA unveiled OMODA X at its global debut during OMODA X Night in Wuhu, China, on 20 October 2026. Combining SUV practicality, an adventurous character, and sporty styling, the crossover is designed to accommodate everyday urban routines while supporting activities beyond the city.

This versatility is relevant to the Indonesian market, where the appeal of SUVs is linked to their ability to accommodate diverse travel needs. From everyday mobility to weekend trips out of town, consumers seek comfort and practicality that support both. Among the SUV choices available, OMODA X could offer an alternative that addresses these needs.

“I think OMODA X is well suited to the Indonesian market. We will begin assessing how to prepare this vehicle for introduction in Indonesia,” said Zeng Shuo, President Director of Chery Group Indonesia.

OMODA X was developed to combine the everyday practicality of an SUV, the adventurous spirit of an off-road vehicle, and the dynamic character of a sports car. Through an approach described as CROSS OFF-ROAD VEHICLE, OMODA presents a crossover for users who enjoy both urban life and outdoor activities.

This character is expressed through mecha design inspired by futuristic culture. A wide body, pronounced shoulders, and sharply sculpted sides create a strong presence with a sporty silhouette. Geometric surfaces inspired by mecha aircraft and signature lightning-pattern taillights reinforce OMODA X’s distinctive visual identity.

This design approach extends into the cabin through the MECHA Command Cockpit concept, guided by the principles of WILD MECHA, GEOMETRIC, and FUNCTIONAL. A twin-wing layout is paired with an X-shaped floating center console, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 13.2-inch central touchscreen. Physical controls remain available for air conditioning and driving modes, combining futuristic aesthetics with ease of operation.

To support its adventurous character, OMODA X’s global specifications include 200 mm of ground clearance and a designed wading capability of more than 700 mm. The model also offers a towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg, a roof load capacity of 75 kg, and 39 storage compartments. These capabilities help users carry cycling and surfing equipment, as well as other travel essentials, extending its practicality from everyday mobility to activities beyond the city.

In-cabin technology is another focus of OMODA X’s development. The model was introduced with SIAS, or Super Intelligent AI Space, which is designed to enable more natural conversations between users and the vehicle without wake words or complex commands. Meanwhile, X-MODE allows vehicle settings and performance responses to be tailored to the driver’s preferences.

OMODA X also features an infrared thermal imaging night vision system, which is claimed to help identify potential hazards up to 90 meters away. For in-cabin entertainment, OMODA X Open Mic uses four independent sound pickup zones, allowing occupants to enjoy karaoke without handheld microphones.

“Looking ahead, we will conduct further studies to assess its suitability for the Indonesian market. OMODA X should not be viewed solely as a vehicle for off-road enthusiasts, as the concept offers much more than that,” added Zeng Shuo, President Director of Chery Group Indonesia.

Beyond its features, OMODA X gives users opportunities to express their individuality through the OMODA X Co-Creation Project. At its global debut, users from Indonesia, Brazil, South Africa, and Poland presented their interpretations of OMODA X, drawing on their respective cultural backgrounds, interests, and creativity. The participation of Indonesian users brought a local perspective to this exploration of vehicle personalization.

The project formed part of OMODA X Night, held during the OMODA & JAECOO International User Summit. The event also featured owners sharing their vehicle personalization stories and a joint performance by users from different countries.

At the same event, OMODA & JAECOO outlined its global technology development roadmap. Plans include HEV technology with a 5 kWh battery, to be introduced first on OMODA O7; thermal insulation coating technology for OMODA O4; and SIVP, or Super Intelligent Valet Parking, for JAECOO J5 and JAECOO J7. These developments are intended to address a range of usage needs, including cabin comfort and parking convenience.

According to company data, OMODA & JAECOO’s cumulative global sales have exceeded 1.4 million vehicles in three and a half years, with a presence in 79 markets. OMODA & JAECOO plans to expand its global portfolio to 13 models over the next three years. For Indonesia, the potential introduction of OMODA X remains subject to further assessment of its suitability for local market needs.
